Author : Mari D. For twenty years, God has been leading, guiding, and preparing author Mari D. Martin to walk alongside her husband, Chris, through a throat cancer diagnosis, the treatment of that cancer, the recovery from the side effects of the treatments, and then through rehabilitation to return to what will be his new normal. In Come Home Alive, Mari shares the oftentimes tender story of their six-part plan to come home alive.
She narrates how the couple used their twenty-four years as Kolbe Certified consultants to practice what they taught, consulted, and coached others regarding self-awareness, strengths identification, communication needs, role alignment, and the environment each person needs to thrive.
For Chris to thrive again, he needed to heal; and for him to heal, he needed to be in an environment that allowed him to thrive. Their plan, rooted in faith, and hope, started with daily time together in prayer and belief in the healing power of God. It ended with a practice of thankfulness and expecting a miracle. Do you like vigorous, quick-moving lessons with lots of classroom interaction?
If so, you'll like English Comes Alive! Witherspoon opens with 60 favorite, wake-them-up activities. Then he writes about role playing, creative speaking, correcting bloopers, acting out words and sentences, outdoor activities, and much more.
Drama, variety, student-teacher interaction: it's all here. And that's what it takes to ignite learning. Witherspoon has extensively tested these lessons during 20 summers of teaching overseas. His students have varied from teenagers to middle-aged professors, from clerks to physicians to non-native teachers of English. Whatever the age or profession of his students, he stresses conversation.
This book describes how the quality of life can be improved by exploiting the central role of the hearing organs from the astonishing discoveries of Professor Alfred Tomatis. This book can be considered as a standard work to establish the proper execution of the original Tomatis method. It pays tribute to Professor Alfred Tomatis' pioneering work.
It provides an insight into why and for what disabilities the method works so well. A wealth of scientific validations and cases are presented to illustrate this as an aid for practitioners as well as for potential clients and to convince the outside world.
Details encompass anatomy, neurology, and physiology, pathology, psychology along with interpretations of listening tests, programming and equipment. It serves both therapists and clients, as well as generally interested persons and medical or educational institutions.
This book harnesses the theory and practice of dramatic arts for the applied use in communication education. It introduces readers to educational role-play and how to use it, arguing that complete immersion is crucial to successful learning. Educational role-play sprang into life in many places including the medical world in the s. Now, fifty years later, the field has grown exponentially across the world. Heinrich discusses how through role play interactions become more authentic, discussion becomes more focused and people take risks, and grow.
Early chapters in Part I focus on theory, show how and why role-play works, and introduce the key performative factors of aesthetic distance, defamiliarization, framing, and focus that produce its dynamism.
Chapters in Part II discuss how these ideas inform every aspect of role-play practice, offer practical guidance on designing and running scenarios, how to be more confident and mindful as player or facilitator, and provide a wide array of techniques to handle challenging situations. Most of the examples are drawn from medical communication, but the insights and techniques are equally applicable to other fields such as business, law, policing, and the military.
The book will be of interest to educators, workplace trainers and managers, facilitators, role-play actors, and scholars interested in role-play performance. Why cant I? Why not? Sometimes there is no good answer to those questions. Wally the Walnut has dreams that seem unreachable. He comes to life in a way that each of us in our hearts can relate.
Wallys story, so beautifully illustrated, takes the reader on a journey through adversity and time. Why not reach for your dreams? The Moral of the Stories, Book One For additional resources, educational information and fun facts visit www. In this book the author brings to light man's deep inner need for spiritual wisdom in life and helps the reader develop a new sense of reality that is based on love, power and compassion. A distorted perception of words, in turn, affected his understanding of the world.
Madaule gives relatable examples and helpful suggestions throughout. He touches on the ear itself, the ears connection to the brain and body, the vestibular system and how to correct hearing disorders.
Music, sound and movement, chanting, learning a new language are amongst the topics explained from Dr.
Tomati's perspective. Tomatis's methods have proven effective as non-invasive treatment for children with autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, and other special needs due to auditory processing disorders. Madaule begins his story as a student, morphing into a celebrated teacher. This book is wonderful and useful. I highly recommend this book for parents and teachers, people suffering from dyslexia or any of the above listed disorders, and anyone who wants to increase their ability to communicate.
Basically an anecdotal account of the Tomatis therapeutic listening program. Would have liked more hard science. I get frustrated by books like this that try to come off as having undergone the rigors of empirical study and they really haven't.
It takes away from the potential value and acceptance of a therapeutic intervention or theoretical concept. Some interesting information, but on the whole, there was a lot about this guys premise that I thought to be very far fetched.
